We believe building effective partnerships is a vital component of community collaboration to enhance the educational experience for all students.
Effective community engagement is essential to our success in developing 21st century learners, workers, and citizens. A comprehensive outreach program that informs the school board, school division staff, parents, media, and the general public about Albemarle County Public Schools’ plans, needs, programs and activities will improve organizational effectiveness while advancing the division’s strategic objectives.
ACPS partners with organizations and events that offer learning opportunities for students and teachers, to include showcasing student work in authentic settings, such as maker faires, Tom Tom Festival, Startup Weekend, and other non-traditional, authentic experiences. Competitive grants also provided partnership opportunities. For instance, ACPS serves as the lead agency on a $3.5 million U.S.DOE Investing in Innovation (i3) grant solidifying partnerships with Charlottesville City Public Schools, Fluvanna County Public Schools, PVCC, the University of Virginia, Princeton, and the Smithsonian.
